Obituary for Larry R. Godfrey Larry Godfrey Gibbon Resident Larry R. Godfrey, 75, of Gibbon died on Friday, October 26, 2018 at CHI Health-St. Francis Hospital in Grand Island, Nebraska. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 5, 2018 at the Faith United Church in Gibbon. Pastor Mike Evans will officiate.

Inurnment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Gibbon. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Gibbon Fire and Rescue.

Larry Robert Godfrey was born on August 6, 1943 in Grand Island to Walter Francis and Ruth Arlene (Loffer) Godfrey. He received his education from Gibbon High School graduating with the class of 1961. Larry was united in marriage to Deanna Kay Prochaska on September 12, 1963 in Ravenna, Nebraska and to this union four children were born: Ardean, Jerry, Shannon and Leann.

The family made their home in the Gibbon area, where Larry was a master electrician for more than 25 years. He serviced the local community of Gibbon through the family business, Godfrey Electric. He also farmed north of Gibbon for 23 years.

Larry was a member of the Bethel Church Board and served on the Gibbon cemetery board for several years. He also volunteered as a 4-H leader for more than 15 years. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Deanna Godfrey of Gibbon; his children, Jerry Godfrey and his wife, Lisa of Troy, Missouri, Shannon Godfrey and his wife, Tina of Kearney and Leann Kirchner and her husband, Steve of Omaha; grandchildren, Tamara and Ana Godfrey, Niah and Callie Kirchner, Ella and Kait Godfrey; step-grandchildren, Sara Lecrone, Zach and Kaitlin Pollard, Jesse Pollard, Taryn Mason, and Sarah and Jamie Adams; step great-grandchildren, Logan Pollard, Adison and Bailey Lecrone and Landon Pollard; brother, Lyle Godfrey and his wife, May of Grand Island; sister-in-law, Darlene Godfrey of Longmont, CO; brother-in-law, Harold Corder of Fort Lupton, CO; nephews, Craig Godfrey, Marlin Godfrey, Clark Godfrey, David Corder and Charlie Nehls; nieces, Myra Imhof, Barbara Floodeen, Lillian Buettner, Arlene Jensen and Christy Godfrey; along with many great-nieces and great-nephews, other relatives and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, son Ardean Godfrey; brother Wayne Godfrey; sisters, Deloris Corder and Ila Nehls; brother-in-law Lyle Nehls; and nephews, Leroy and Donald Godfrey.
