Larry W. Riggs, 71, of Madisonville, KY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at his home following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, David Riggs and Lottie Riggs Goodloe; his sister, Barbara Tomlinson; and brother, Carroll Riggs. Larry served in the U.S. Navy from 1967-1971.

He was a master electrician by trade and a picker by heart. He enjoyed shopping at yard sales and setting up shop at Luke’s Flea Market in Greenville. He looked forward to his weekly visits to the Habitat Restore, talking baseball, politics, or whatever the topic of the day was with Brian and all the many customers.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Joyce Riggs; his son and daughter in law, Daniel and Katie Riggs; his daughter Katie Riggs Dame; his “adopted” daughter, Darien Harris; sister, Elaine Riggs; and in-laws, James Hibbs and Jeanetta, Matthew, and Elise Alexander. A service celebrating Larry’s life will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 2:00pm at the Madisonville First Cumberland Presbyterian Church which is located at 1540 Anton Rd. in Madisonville, KY.

Visitation with the family will be from 12:00pm until service time at 2:00pm at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to the Habitat for Humanity or donations of gently used items to the Habitat Restore located at 43 S. Dave St. Madisonville, KY 42431. Reid-Walters Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
