Larry William Petersen died on Monday, October 1, 2018. He was 78 years of age. Larry was born in Auburn, Washington, on August 11, 1940, the son of Lawrence and Rosalia Petersen.

He was raised with his two brothers in Auburn and attended Auburn High School. He served in the United States Air Force as a B-52 mechanic and was then employed by Boeing as an instrumentation technician. In 1972, he graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Urban Planning and became a transportation planner for Puget Sound Council of Governments.

In the 1980’s he started his own business, using his remarkable woodworking and carpentry skills to create custom cabinets and furniture for eastside customers. During this time, he also built two family homes, one in Sammamish and the other on Harstine Island. He had an inherent understanding of how things worked and could build and repair almost anything.

He loved family, travel, photography and woodworking. Larry and his wife Judy were married for almost 52 years and have been residents of the Sammamish plateau since 1976. They had two children, Daniel and Laurel.

Survivors include his wife Judy, son Daniel, son-in-law Mike Petite, and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Laurel Christine Petite. At his request, services will be private.

The family suggests remembrances to Union Gospel Mission or the Public Broadcasting System. Friends are invited to share memories and sign the family’s on-line guest book at www. flintofts.com.
