Laura Herran Perez, “Tia” of Charlotte North Carolina went to be with the Lord, Sunday evening June 3, 2018. She currently resided at the Brookdale Senior living community in Monroe, N.C. Tia, as she was lovingly called, by her many nieces and nephews, was born in Bogota Colombia December 30, 1929. She was the daughter of Lucio Herran and Ines Andrade Herran and is survived by her sisters, Balbina Castillo of Charlotte North Carolina and Maria Esther Lozano of Bogota Colombia.

In addition… Read More » she is survived by nieces, nephews and their spouses Martha and Melvin Robinson, Patty and Doug Whitlow Sr., Nohora and David Daniels Sr., Irma Kiker, Danny and Michelle Castillo Sr., Fabio and Janet Castillo; 15 Grandnephews and nieces, Christopher Robinson, Bridgette (Keith) McVickers, Doug II (Alycia) Whitlow, Tiffanni (Gerald) Speight, Christina Elliott, Joe (Jennifer) Daniels, Candice Daniels, David Daniels, Jr., Tonie (Mike) Malcolm, Andrew (Tara) Kiker, Danny II and Sophia Castillo, Luke, Leah and Ava Castillo; and 15 Great-nephews and nieces, Brittany, Sydnie and Brandon McVickers, Justus Rockwell, Summer and Trey Whitlow, Lex and Lucy Speight, Bryson Elliott, Auden Trout Daniels, Lilly, Gabby, and Mikey Malcolm, Eli and Hannah Kiker. Also many nieces and nephews from Colombia South America whom she loved dearly. She will be missed and remembered for her adventurous spirit and delightful personality.

Laura moved to the United States in 1965. She lived in New York City, where she worked for Bulova. In 1978 she moved to Charlotte where she worked and retired from JC Penney.

She was a Godly woman, and an exemplary member of the catholic church. Laura enjoyed traveling to south America, Europe and throughout the United States. She loved sports and played competitive basketball in Colombia and was known for being a great dancer of any kind of music.

Her greatest passion and perhaps her legacy is that she honored her family, by collecting decades of photographs of each family member, she created family albums for everyone, leaving to us a lifetime of memories to enjoy, treasure, and ultimately pass on to future generations.
