Laurence James Maher, 92, of Barrington and formerly of Mount Prospect, was born on June 30, 1926 in Chicago and passed away on January 21, 2019 in Barrington. Laurence was a Senior Executive Vice President of Encyclopedia Britannica. He was the caring husband of Dolores (nee McSweeny) for 63 years; loving father of Peggy (Charlie) Emerson, Laurence Maher, Beth (Keith) Dinsmore, John (Jill) Maher and Kevin Maher; cherished grandfather of Robert, Kathryn (Bryan), Kate, Matthew, Ethan and Julia; dear great-grandfather of Eli.

Laurence was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Helen Maher; and his sisters, Mary (Joe) Fernandez and Angela (Bill) Selbach. Funeral Services will be held privately for family. Memorial donations may be made to Journeycare Foundation, www.
