The family will have a private service. Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein is assisting the family.

Lavern served in the National Guard. He worked on the Eben Schwartz farm near Oelwein for 42 years. Lavern is survived by his 3 brothers: Larry Faust (Linda Caldwell) of Oelwein, Gerald Faust of Oelwein and Derald Faust of Oelwein.

Lavern was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Alvin, Lloyd and Robert and a sister: Ruth Johnson.
