SEDLEMEYER—Lawrence L., 91, The Villa Personal Care, Johnstown, formerly of Richland, returned home to his Maker, on December 4, 2018. Born February 9, 1927, in Johnstown, son of the late Lawrence C. and Martha R. (Lewark) Sedlemeyer. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Pearl, who passed away in 2017 and sister, Patricia Brannigan.

Survived by loving children, Larry (Jayne), Hershey; Kathleen, Richland; Mark, Trafford; and Douglas (Denise), Johnstown; loving grandchildren, Angela (Matt) Lusk, Jason (Ashlee) Sedlemeyer, Alexa (J.R.) Livelsberger, Branden and John Sedlemeyer, and Megan and Madison Sedlemeyer; loving great-grandchildren, Owen Lusk, Ella and Maxwell Livelsberger. Brother of Fred (John) Sedlemeyer, North Carolina. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Ruth McGraw, Nancy Yagodich and Marliyn Locher, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Our dad was a devoted servant of the Lord and a loving husband, father and “Pap”. His pride and joy was his family whom he always cared for with selfless devotion. He had a passion for the Pittsburgh sports teams and enjoyed reading his daily paper.

He was an avid gardener for many years and boasted the largest vegetable garden in the neighborhood. Lawrence was a 1945 graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School. He joined the Army right after high school and proudly served as a Corporal in Company D, 18th Infantry stationed in Germany during World War II.

He returned home and married the love of his life. He was employed by Bethlehem Steel as a millwright, retiring after 38 years. He later worked for the Richland School District as a Traffic/School Attendance Officer for 7 years.

He was a 50 plus year member of the American Legion. He was a long-time faithful parishioner of St. Benedict Catholic Church, where he was member of the usher’s club and served as a Reunion volunteer for many years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus/Msgr.

James E. Fitzgibbon Council #8244. The family wishes to express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Richard Kastelic and the entire staff of The Villa for the care and attention provided to our father. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Pastor David S. Peles.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. Committal, Grandview Cemetery, with Military graveside rites by Menoher VFW Post #155. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to St. Benedict Church, 2310 Bedford St., Johnstown, PA 15904, in memory of Lawrence Sedlemeyer.
