Larry passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family. He was beloved by many, known for his sense of humor, kindness, and gentle spirit. The only child of Wayne and Alberta Dury, Larry grew up in the town of White Pigeon, Michigan.

After earning a degree in political science, he moved to California and worked at Summit Alta Bates Medical Center, Oakland for forty years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, socializing, reading, watching movies, and indulging his sweet tooth (although it never affected his youthful figure, he was, perhaps, overly fond of pie). Larry is survived by his wife Gaila, of Walnut Creek, daughter Christina of San Diego, son Chris of Concord, and four grandchildren: Benjamin, Jeremy, Oliver, and Finley.

Private services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry’s honor may be made to The American Cancer Society or The Salvation Army.
