Obituary for Lee David Treichler Lee David Treichler died peacefully on October 19th, 2018 in Fort Myers, Florida at the age of 78. Lee was born on February 1, 1940 to Irene Regenscheid and Lamar Treichler. He graduated from North Tonawanda High School in 1957 and served in the United States Army from 1959-1962.

Following his service in the military, Lee attended Northrop Institute of Technology where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in 1966. Lee was an accomplished professional who enjoyed a 35 year career as an aeronautical engineer. His career gave him the opportunity to work throughout the United States, England, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Australia, Singapore and China.

Lee’s passion for engineering extended outside of his work life manifesting itself in his voracious interest in all things mechanical. He also loved music, travel, history, photography, writing and volunteering. Out of all of Lee’s interests and responsibilities in life, his greatest and most lasting joy was his role as a Father and Grandfather.

He will be remembered by his family and friends for his easy going personality, patience, innovative “can do” spirit and unwavering devotion to his children. Lee is survived by his two daughters, Heidi Simmonds-Short of Fort Myers, Florida and Amy Kelley, of Crystal Bay, Nevada, his sister, Sheila Boling, of Bradenton, Florida and his six grandchildren: Jessica Simmonds-Short, Jack Simmonds-Short, Max Simmonds-Short, of Fort Myers, Florida and Meghan Kelley, Kate Kelley and James Kelley of Crystal Bay, Nevada. Lee is also survived by Karen Treichler, the mother of his children, of Newtown, Connecticut.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, November 28th at 5:00 PM at Wattengel Funeral Home, 533 Meadow Drive, North Tonawanda, New York. A reception will follow the service. Friends are invited to join the family as we celebrate Lee’s life.
