Leila Evans, 100, of Lake Odessa went to be with her Lord on April 27, 2019 at her daughter’s home in Elfrida, AZ. Leila was born in Weta, SD to Lloyd and Mary (Alexander) Dennie on May 20, 1918. She graduated from Lowell High School in 1936 and then married Clifford Evans in 1938.

Together they raised four children. Leila loved farm life, especially cooking and baking for her family and friends. Her cookie jar was never empty.

She took great pride in her chickens, collecting eggs and selling them locally at grocery stores and the egg co-op in Lake Odessa. Over the years Leila cared for many foster children, including babies in transition for adoption. In later years as she and Clifford downsized, flower gardening, birdwatching, playing games and especially her grandchildren became her greater passion.

Leila had a place in her heart for cats. Her love for cats was only surpassed by her love for people. Leila was a long-time member of Clarksville Bible Church.

She will be dearly missed by: her children; Sidney (Sharon) Evans, Gloria (Edward) Kenny, Rodney (Elaine) Evans and Jacqueline (Jeffrey) Schaa, 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, brother Rev. Donald (Gloria) Dennie, sister-in-law Marie Dennie along with many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are: her parents, husband of 63 years Clifford, infant son Roger, siblings; Howard (Pearl) Dennie, Richard (Ruth) Dennie and Grace (Rev.

Harold) Green. Visitation is planned on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 5pm until 8pm, at Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 9th at 11am at Clarksville Bible Church in Clarksville.

Burial will take place at Clarksville Cemetery next to Clifford. Memorials can be made to Ethnos 360 Aviation- Missionary Flight Sponsorship-3870 W. Volunteer St. McNeal AZ 85617 or Clarksville Bible Church for the Future Facilities Fund. Online condolences can be left at www.
