Obituary for Leo St. Amour Jr. Leo Robert St. Amour, Jr., died on September 28, 2018. He was the son of the late Leo Robert St. Amour, Sr. and Grace Anona St. Amour, born on March 5, 1933, at Barre, Vermont. He spent his earliest years in St. Albans, VT, Washington, DC and Claremont, NH where he graduated from Stevens High School in 1951.

He was an ardent biker, hiker and hunter during his high school years. Subsequently, he attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1955. Originally commissioned a second lieutenant in the Artillery, his first duty station was with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC.

In addition to his normal duties, he constantly volunteered for experimental parachute jumps to help develop equipment and tactics for airborne troops. Subsequent assignments took him to Fort Bliss TX, Taiwan, Okinawa (where he transferred to the Ordnance Corps), Fort Sill OK, Korea, Turkey, Aberdeen Proving Ground MD, and Vietnam. During is long military career, he earned many military awards including the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (twice), Joint Service Commendation Medal (twice), the American Expeditionary Medal, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Vietnamese Armed Forces Honor Medal First Class, the Republic of China 823 Badge of Honor as well as several others.

After retirement from the military, Leo, along with his family, raised and showed Morgan horses, exhibition poultry and purebred dairy goats. During this time, he also was manager of a national tax preparation office in Havre de Grace, MD. After giving up farming, he and his wife, Margaret, established L & P Tax Service where they served many clients with whom they became good friends.

Leo enjoyed traveling and the company of his many friends. He was a member of the Young at Heart Senior Club, the Military Officers Association of America, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion Post 47, Disabled Veterans of America, Friends of the Concord Point Lighthouse and Havre de Grace United Methodist Church. During his life, in the military and beyond, Leo worked with the Boy Scouts of American, the Girl Scouts of America and Maryland 4-H organizations.

Leo leaves his wife Margaret Ann and his son Michael Alan St. Amour, Sr. as his survivors. Also surviving are step children; Cynthia Lorraine Andrews, Trudy Lynn Sullivan and William John Brogan, Jr He also leaves grandchildren, step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
