OBITUARY Leola J Jackson August 29, 1927 – January 22, 2019 HOPKINS – Lillian Leola “Lee” Jeffcoat Jackson passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 after a courageous struggle with Parkinson’s Disease. Born on August 29, 1927, on a farm near Pelion in Lexington County, she was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church. She graduated from Pelion High School and later attended Columbia Bible College before graduating from the University of South Carolina with a B.A. degree in Philosophy and Religious Studies.

She married John L. Jackson on April 8, 1950, and they enjoyed almost sixty-nine years of marriage. Together, she and her husband founded Jackson Camera and Jackson Insdustries, Inc., where she worked as vice-president while raising two daughters. She traveled throughout the world with her husband and children and enjoyed teaching Sunday school classes at Main Street UMC, being home on the farm with her family, traveling to the lake and beach, flowers, animals, and entertaining.

She is survived by her husband, daughter, Lee Anne Jackson Stoddard, son-in-law, James A. Stoddard, and step-brother, Anthony Tindal (Peggy). She was predeceased by her parents, Vandy Vastine Jeffcoat and Eula Lee (Smith) Jeffcoat, two brothers, Robert Alton (Jiggs) Jeffcoat and Leon Beaufort (Joe) Jeffcoat, a step-brother, Larry Tindal, a step-sister, Stella Tindal, and a beloved daughter, Mary Beth Jackson. She was a very loving and was much loved and will be greatly missed.

Following a private burial, there will be a memorial service at Main Street United Methodist Church, 1830 Main Street, Columbia, at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2019. The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Thursday in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Main Street UMC or a charity of one’s choice.
