Leona Brown Shirley January 11, 1936 – January 22, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Spartanburg, SC- Leona Brown Shirley, 83, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away at her home on Tuesday, January 22, 2019. Born January 11, 1936, Leona was a daughter of the late Cleo and Mary Brown. She was the mother of 5 children.

Leona worked for Coop Elementary and E.P. Todd Elementary. She also worked as a manager at Ingles Bakery for an extended time and retired from Coca Cola where she was the manager of their catering commissary. Leona was a lifelong member of Cedar Springs Baptist Church, where she had a deep appreciation and love for the children.

She taught Sunday school, vacation bible school, and praise team. Leona had a passion for mission work and traveled to Mali, West Africa with Harvest Seekers International. She was predeceased by her husband, Colie; a son, Don; brother, Bill Brown; and grandson, Jason.

Leona is survived by her children Glen, Denise, Dana, and Mark; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. She was deeply loved by her children and friends and will be forever missed. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan 26th, 2:00PM at Cedar Springs Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cedar Springs Baptist Church, Building Fund, 140 Cedar Springs Place Spartanburg S.C. 29302.
