OBITUARY Leona Clark Vittum March 20, 1920 – August 31, 2018 Leona Clark Vittum, 98, of Seattle, Washington passed away peacefully on August 31, 2018. She was born in Portland, Maine on March 20, 1920. Leona graduated from business school in Maine.

On December 12, 1943 in Long Beach, California, Leona married Winthrop M. Vittum, a US Coast Guard member from Haverhill, Massachusetts. Leona worked as a secretary at the naval shipyard in Long Beach, California during WWII and subsequently became a committed homemaker. She raised her children in Haverhill, Massachusetts then in La Habra, Palos Verdes, and Thousand Oaks all in Southern California.

Leona spent her retirement winter years in Santa Maria, California and summers in her beloved East Wakefield, New Hampshire at her lakeside cottage. Her final years were in Seattle, Washington. She was active with her church and a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

She had a passion for her family, reading, knitting, crocheting, sewing, and doing jigsaw puzzles. She was a good friend of many, a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughters: Marjorie (Larry), Deborah (Wilson), and her son, Stephen (Cheryl), 9 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Marjorie and Esther. A small family celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to your local Salvation Army in honor or Leona Vittum.
