Obituary for Leroy Hoppel FLORENCE, SC – Leroy Delbert Hoppel, 88, of Florence, South Carolina, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2018. Mr. Hoppel was born on November 16, 1929 in East Liverpool, a son of the late Lillian Smith Hoppel and Chester Hoppel. He graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1947 where he had been a member of the All-Boy Band and attended Jefferson Tech Community College in Steubenville.

Leroy was a US Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict with the 37th Infantry 137th Tank Division as a Tank Commander. He had been employed at the former Patterson Industries, both on the assembly floor and in the office as a planner, retiring after 30 years. After retiring from Patterson Industries, he was employed at First Energy of Stratton and retired from there in 1992.

He was also a loyal Steelers fan and Penguins fan. Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Norma Hoppel of Florence; son, Craig A. Hoppel and his wife, Georgia of Florence; grandchildren, Ashley Valone of Hartsville, South Carolina and Jonathan Hoppel of North Carolina; as well as sisters, Evelyn Alexander and Mary Lou English. A service will be held on Wednesday, June 27th at 2:00 at the chapel at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
