Leroy’s Obituary Leroy James Dionne April 14, 1942- December 25, 2018 As many of you know, my love has departed this world and has gone to be with the Lord. This is a sad time for our family, but we know that he is no longer suffering the ailments of this world and we will meet him again in Heaven. We appreciate all your prayers and condolences during this time and invite you to join us as we remember his life on Monday December 31, 2018.
Leroy James Dionne was born April 14, 1942 to Frederick James Dionne and Mary Virginia (Wagar) Dionne at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette Michigan. He went home to be with his Lord on December 25, 2018 at the age of 76 at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo Colorado. He graduated from Marquette Public High School and joined the United States Navy where he dedicated 4 years of service to our country and graduated from boiler school.
After his service in the Navy ended Leroy married the love of his life Beverly Ann Hildreth. The two met at bible camp in Waupaca Wisconsin and exchanged letter correspondence during Leroy’s service. Soon after they were married, the two began a family and Leroy supported this family through his work at Kelly Springfield Tire Company until he was granted early retirement after 30 years of dedication.
Leroy and Beverly raised 7 children together; Susan Ann (Thomas) Spielman, William James Dionne (Denise Wise), Rachel Linn Moore, Julie Rose (Clinton) Rucker, Michael Lee Dionne (CharLyn Welty), Daniel Scott Dionne, and Christian Joel Dionne (Annessa Swanson). In their retirement years Leroy and Beverly enjoyed traveling in their RV and serving as campground hosts at Lake Le-Aqua-Na State Park in Lena Illinois for the past 10 years. Leroy was a good spirited man who loved to joke with all those he met.
He obtained a vast collection of interesting key chains over the years that were both gifts and personal picks from the couple’s travels. He enjoyed bird watching and always maintained several bird feeders where ever the two traveled. Most of all he loved his family and cherished any time he spent with them.
He is preceded in death by his father Frederick, mother Mary, and grandson Corbin Tristan Dionne. He leaves behind his wife of 53 years Beverly, 7 children, 20 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, brother, Jerry Dionne (Kathy), and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Monday, December 31, 2018 at Gospel Outreach Church at 211 W Spring St in Freeport Illinois from 9am to 11am and a funeral service to follow at 11am.
After the funeral, a graveside service will be held at Oakland Cemetery at 2619 W Pearl City Rd, Freeport Illinois. Following the graveside service, a luncheon will be held back at Gospel Outreach Church. Condolences may be shared at www.
