Leroy’s Obituary Reidsville – Leroy Jones departed this life on Wednesday, April 17, 2019. He was a native of Kinston and a resident of New York for 25 years before relocating to Reidsville in 1978. With courage and tenacity, he served his country during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged from the United States Navy.

While residing in New York, he was ordained as a Deacon at Second Bethlehem Church of Christ and was a former employee of the City of New York. Following many years of laboring, he retired from the City of Reidsville. On September 22, 1973 in Hempstead (Long Island), New York, he married the love of his life, the former Frances Mae Johnson, sharing a life of love, devotion and joy for 45 years.

To God Be The Glory! Survivors are: beloved wife, Frances Mae Johnson Jones; children, Frances “Bonnie” Wilkerson and Avis “Von” Taylor; godsons, Keith Neal and Glen Neal (Donna); grandchildren, James Price (Kisha), Gary Wilkerson (Jen), Latoya Taylor, Charvon and Latisha Mc Adoo; great-grandchildren, Ladajia, Nimeiri, Chanel, Cadance, Zayvien, Jakari, Byrce and Adrian; sisters and brother, Rosa Bell Dunn, Esther Ingram, Sarah Jones and Willard Jones (Mae Bell); sisters-in-law, Dorothy Cobb, Marian Neal, Lauretta Platt, Mary Harden and Marlene Hendricks (Al); brothers-in-law, Charlie Johnson and Marvin Johnson (Sandy); other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2019 from the Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 112 Holderby Street with Pastor Crystally Wright presiding.

The family will receive friends Monday from 2:30 until 3:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions made to Hospice of Rockingham, 2150 NC Highway 65, Reidsville, NC 27320. His remains are in the care of Johnson & Sons.
