Leroy Joseph “Lee” Montbriand age 84 of Sturgis, Michigan passed away Friday, November 23, 2018 at the Sturgis Hospital. Lee was born February 24, 1934 to the late Louis Alfred and Helen (Haas) Montbriand. Lee is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Dorothy; 2 step-sons, Thomas (Annette) Moffat of Park Ridge, IL, Robert Moffat of Park Forest, IL.

, 2 daughters, Jean (Scott) Finney of Sleepy Hollow, IL. , Lynn (John) Dobberteen of Sturgis, MI, 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren,… Read More » and his sister Violet Sella of Lake Havasu City, AZ. Lee was preceded in death by his parents, his step-daughter Nancy Hansen, his son Daniel Montbriand, his brother Alfred Montbriand, sisters, Helen Duffy, Margaret Nadai, Rosemary McComb.

Lee served in the United States Army from November 2, 1956 to October 31, 1958. He was an avid golfer and loved to spend time at North Twin Lake in Howe, IN. He had a wicked sense of humor right up until the end.

Suffering through the insidious Parkinson’s disease he was still able to make others smile with his wit and dry humor, often poking fun at the effects of the disease. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A gathering to celebrate Lee’s life will be held this summer at the Dome on the river.

The Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-2331 is entrusted with the arrangements. The family suggest those wishing to make a memorial donation in Lee’s memory consider the Parkinson’s Research Foundation, 5969 Cattleridge Blvd. , Suite 100 Sarasota, FL 34232.
