OBITUARY Leroy P. LeCamus April 17, 1930 – January 5, 2019 NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Leroy P. LeCamus, age 88, at 10:00 am on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Melancon officiating. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
A gathering of family and friends will take place at Evangeline Funeral Home on Sunday from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a rosary being led by the Men’s Rosary Group at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Monday at 8:00 am until the service time. A native of Loreauville and resident of New Iberia, Mr. LeCamus passed away on Saturday, January 05, 2019 at St. Joseph Hospice Carpenter House in Lafayette.
Leroy was proud to serve his country in the United States Air Force until his honorable discharge in 1955. Leroy continued that service with New Iberia Fire Department for 27 years. He also dedicated his time as an umpire for baseball and soft ball in New Iberia for many years.
Leroy enjoyed many things like sports and playing cards, but had a true passion for dancing. His favorite music to dance to was classic country. A loving father, grandfather, and friend, Leroy will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his children, Tammy Migues and husband Mitch of New Iberia, Tracie Geoffroy and husband Ward of Cypress, TX, Marcus LeCamus and wife Carla of Youngsville, and Matt LeCamus and wife Stacey of Broussard; grandchildren, Shannon Lopez and husband Scott, Sky Geoffroy and wife Ashley, Brandi Wiggins and husband Chet, Shane Migues and wife Lauren, Lacie Moore and husband Matthew, Seth LeCamus, and Andrew LeCamus; great grandchildren, McKailyn Wiggins, Jaxon Wiggins, Benjamin Lopez, Gabrielle Lopez, Andrew Lopez, Quinn Migues, Thomas Moore, and Luke Moore; sister-in-law, Nell Granger of New Iberia; and dear friend and companion, Sybil Barrilleaux, who held a special place in his heart. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, June Dugas LeCamus; parents, Husville and Amelia Dugas LeCamus; sisters, Effie Thibodeaux, Grace Fridley, and Nola Dugas; and brothers, Shelton LeCamus and Skerty LeCamus. Pallbearers will members of the New Iberia Fire Department Honorary pallbearers will be Marcus LeCamus, Matt LeCamus, Scott Lopez, Chet Wiggins, Sky Geoffroy, Matthew Moore, Seth LeCamus, Shane Migues, Andrew LeCamus, Mitch Migues, and Ward Geoffroy.
