Lester G. Christy Sr., 86, of Peninsula, went to Heaven on Sunday, October 14, 2018 and is now at peace in the Lord’s arms. Les was born in Wadsworth, Oh on September 4, 1932. He went to Kenmore High School then joined the Army and served in the Korean War.

After returning to the States, he worked at Diamond Salt, The Eagles and Republic Steel. After retiring, he and his wife (Grace Fletcher Christy) moved from Canton to Peninsula so they could be closer to the family. Les leaves behind with many loving memories, his wife, Grace; and their three children, daughter, Paula (John) Szalay, sons, Les Jr. (Michele) and Keith.

He leaves three grandchildren, John II (Amy) Szalay, Georgia (John) Downing and Tyler Christy, along with four great- grandchildren, Eva (9), Johnny (6), Jake (2) and Alex (one month). Also, Les has two children from a previous marriage, Nick (Anita) Rackov and Tina (Bill) Anderson, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Plus there are many nieces and nephews that he loved very much too.

Les had many friends, especially at the Natatorium where he walked and swam five days a week. His dear friends, Rudy and Susie Clark, were always there to lend him a kind, loving and supportive hand. Les loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them.

He would take the family camping, boating and fishing. He was a Boy Scout Leader for his sons that became an Eagle Scout and a Life Scout, plus he made time to watch his daughter cheer at football and basketball games. On nice summer nights, Les could be seen watering the flowers and shrubs and making sure his U.S. Flag was flying proudly!

Les loved life and had a funny (dry) sense of humor. We were blessed by his love, guidance and support. We will love and miss him (“Pops”) forever.

He was the best ! ! We thank our family, friends and neighbors for their love, concern and helping hands during this difficult time.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Thursday at the Ciriello & Carr FAIRLAWN CHAPEL, 39 S. Miller Rd. , where friends may call one hour prior to service time. Interment at Forest Hill Cemetery.
