Obituary for Lida L. Gillham Lida Lou Gillham, nee Smith, 88, of Edwardsville, Ill. , died Sunday, December 16, 2018, in Webster Groves, Mo. Lida was born April 28, 1930, in Belleville, Ill.
, the daughter of Walter and Mina, nee Oesterle, Smith. She was a 1948 graduate of Freeburg Community High School. She held numerous jobs in her life, most recently with the State of Illinois Public Aid, the United States Postal Service, and the Military Records Center in St. Louis, Mo.
In addition, she helped her husband manage their farm business. She was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Edwardsville, the Daughters of American Revolution, Republican Women, Edwardsville Home Extension, Lincoln Trails Decorative Arts, Artistic Friends Paint in St. Louis, The Red Hats, The Silvers Group, The Order of Eastern Star, and TOPS. She was a lifelong Republican and St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Lida always loved a good poker game with her friends and was a Girl Scout Leader for several years. Lida was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Clark Gillham, who she married on April 15, 1966 at her parents’ home in Freeburg, Ill. , and who died May 3, 2013; her parents; and a son, Frederick Walter Germann, in infancy.
Surviving are three children, Linda (Jack), nee Germann, Votava of Springfield, Mo. , Michael (Erin) Germann of Bel Air, Md. , and Pattie (Ron), nee Gillham, James of Webster Groves, Mo.
; eight grandchildren, Brett Votava, Laura (Chris) Boudrie, Allison, Louisa, and Natalie Germann, and Aedan, Dylan, and Riley James; three great-grandchildren, Ella, Lily, and Landon Boudrie; a sister, Judy (Harold) Carpenter of Freeburg, Ill. ; and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 20, 2018, at Weber and Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2018, at the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Edwardsville, Ill. , with Rev. Jackie Havis-Shear officiating.
Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Immanuel United Methodist Church or The Edwardsville Republican Women. Condolences may be expressed online at weberfuneralhome.com.
