Lida Mary Laba, 65, dear sister of Margaret (Rodney) Cantrell and fond cousin of Olga Suszczyk. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Nicholas and Alexandra (Suszczyk) Laba. She was their loving caregiver during their many medical challenges.

Lida loved her career as a teacher, sharing a love of literature and creative arts with many students in the Chicago Public Schools. She enjoyed writing short stories and oil painting; leaving beautiful art for family and friends to enjoy. An advocate for the humane treatment of all animals, she sheltered and cared for many pets throughout the years.

Lida faced the struggle of Alzheimer’s with grace and courage. She was given care at Belmont Village-Glenview, Bethesda Senior Care and most especially by Rainbow Hospice. May she rest in eternal peace.
