LILAH’s Obituary Lilah Cornelia (LaPorte) Goad, 91, widow of Donald Edward Goad, Jr., of Staunton, died Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Augusta Health. She was born August 8, 1927 in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Frank C. and Lilah Earl (Burner) LaPorte. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a clerk at Woolworths and she was a stenographer.

She was a member of Spring Hill Presbyterian Church. Family members include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donald Edward Goad, III and Gary and Gloria Goad; a daughter and son-in-law, Frieda and Millard Driver; three grandchildren, Amy Frayer (David), Sarah Simmons (Travis), and Lila Jenny Driver (Michele Marston); eight great grandchildren, Amelia, Garrett and Grant Simmons, Hannah and Samantha Meyerhoeffer, Ava Frayer, and Lila and Adelyde Driver; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2019 in Spring Hill Presbyterian Church Cemetery by the Rev. Todd Lilley. Active pallbearers will be John Strumpf, Travis Simmons, David Frayer, Todd Wood, Jeff Sturm, and Jerome Sturm.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2019 in Spring Hill Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the church. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Shenandoah, c/o Augusta Health Foundation, P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22939 or the Augusta Regional SPCA, P.O. Box 2014, Staunton, VA 24402.
