Obituary for Lillian G. Petrovic Print Lillian G Petrovic, 91 passed away on February 4, 2019 in Cheyenne, WY. She was born November 26, 1927, in Hutter, MN to Elmer and Signe (Pudas) Nelson. She grew up mainly in the Oslo, MN area, but like many of those who grew up in the Depression Era, her family moved many times.
After the war, she lived in Eveleth, MN, where she met and married Victor Petrovic on June 9, 1952. They moved to Duluth, MN where she would live her entire life up until the past 4 years when she moved to Cheyenne, WY. Together, Lillian and Victor established Petrovic Jewelers in Lakeside, which they operated for 40 years, before their son Peter took over the business.
Lillian was a member of St Michael’s parish, where she sang in the choir for 15 years. She was proud of her Norwegian and Swedish heritage. She loved playing the organ and guitar, dancing, painting, gardening, baking bread, sewing and quilting.
Lillian and Vic enjoyed spending time at their lake cabin and loved to host family gatherings at their house and at the lake. Because she moved so much growing up, traveling seemed to be in her blood. There were lots of family camping trips and vacations to see many places around the country.
She was happiest surrounded by family and friends. She was a loving Mother who lived life to the fullest. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Victor Petrovic, and her son Peter.
Her brothers, Elmer Nelson and William (Bill) Nelson and her sisters, Helen Nelson and Dorothy Wisch. She is survived by her daughters Cathy (Joe) Hancock of Cheyenne, WY and Martha (William) Rojas of Kearney, NE, and her son, John Petrovic (LeeAnn) of Duluth, MN, and her daughter-in-law Sheree Petrovic of Driggs. ID.
Her sisters, Margaret Filipovich and Kay Warren and her brother Richard (Dick) Nelson, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Services will be held in Duluth, MN at a later date. To send flowers to the family of Lillian G. Petrovic, please visit our Heartfelt Sympathies Store.
