FROSTBURG- Linda Rae Powell, 74, of Frostburg, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born January 1, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Rizer and Florence (Skidmore) Rizer. She is preceded in death by a brother, Albert Spataro, sister-in-law, Charmaine Powell, and brother-in-law, Jack Strohecker.

Linda was a beloved mother and friend. She had been employed with Hunter Douglas. Linda was a member of the Eckhart Baptist Church.

She went to St. Michael’s School and Beall High School. Linda was a member of the Frostburg Eagles and the Moose Auxiliary. She also volunteered at the Clarysville Fire Hall.

She is survived by sons, Rick Powell of Frostburg; and Kenneth Powell of Georgia; a daughter Roxanne Powell of Virginia; grandchild, Sierra Kenney; brothers, Michael Spataro and wife Joyce of Clarysville; Herman Rizer and wife Nancy of Delaware; Bobby Rizer and wife Mary Ann of Finzel sisters, Marylou Couche and husband Charles of Pennsylvania; Clara Mae Powell of Cumberland; Susan Erwine and husband Anthony of Baltimore; and sister- in-law Angie Spataro of Finzel. Also surviving, are numerous nieces and nephews, and former husband, Huey “Buck” Powell and wife Cheryl (Fresh) Powell. The family wants to thank everyone for all the prayers and kind words expressed during this difficult time.

In accordance with Linda’s wishes, her body will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
