It is with sadness and sorrow that the family of Lindsay James Speiss announces his passing on October 3, 2018 after a long illness. Lindsay was born on November 19, 1962 in Cleveland, Ohio and was a longtime resident of the Philadelphia area, including Elkins Park and Ambler. In 1986, Lindsay became affiliated with National Revenue Corporation (NRC), which later transitioned to the Company Tek-Collect, and where he built a strong and successful career.
Within the Company he was nationally known in the role of a sales account executive, and for his role in training other sales professionals, and additional endeavors for the Company. A 1981 graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School in Wyncote Pennsylvania, Lindsay was academically accomplished and earned merit scholar recognition in his coursework. He was well-liked by all; faculty, staff, parents, and students.
He was a member of the school’s nationally recognized marching unit and band, for which he played the trumpet. He also played on the school’s football team as wide receiver, and was a member of the Royal Masque, the school’s theatre group, appearing in many productions. He is survived by his loving family; his talented and successful daughter Briana Speiss, a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University and resident of New York City, and her mother Terri Speiss.
Additionally, he is survived by his brother Terry and spouse Susan Speiss, and their children (Suzanne and Anthony) and grandchildren. Their daughter Suzanne Speiss and spouse Gerry Hinkle have three children; Maxwell, Samuel, and Thomas. Lindsay will also be remembered by his brother Christopher and former spouse Danielle Adams, and their children Jackie, Sami, and Ali, as well as Christopher’s partner Lorraine and their daughter Fiona.
Also surviving him is his sister Valerie and her spouse Bill Preston; brother Timothy and spouse Judite, and Timothy’s children Francesca and Richard. Lindsay is also survived by his nephew, Thomas J. Speiss III, and spouse Sujata and daughter Natasha. He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas J. Speiss Sr. and mother Margaret Frances Speiss; his brother Thomas J. Speiss, Jr. and his spouse Beverly Speiss; grandparents Josephine and Ernest Speiss, Maurice and Margaret O’Connell, and all the additional family members that have passed and touched our lives.
We find joy and comfort in Lindsay’s reunion with them. Services will be held at 10:15 a.m., on Saturday October 27 at St. James Church, at 8320 Brookside Road, Elkins Park, Pennsylvania. The Reverand Edward Windhaus will officiate, and Music Director Melanie Capoferri will serve as vocalist, accompanied by organist Christine O’Neill.
Burial will be in the Lawnview Cemetery, located at 500 Huntingdon Pike at Rockledge Avenue. Arrangements are under the direction of Harry May of the William R. May Funeral Home, Glenside Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Lindsay James Speiss Scholarship Fund at Bishop McDevitt High School.
