Ross, Sr., 74, of Chamberlain, SD will be 10:00 am Friday, May 3, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fort Thompson with burial in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery at Stephan, SD. Wake services will be Thursday at 7:00 pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fort Thompson. Lloyd Emery Ross was born May 15, 1944 to Silas and Frances (White Mouse) Ross at Fort Thompson, SD.

He attended school at Flandreau and graduated from Flandreau Indian School in 1964. After high school, he attended barber school. He returned home to Fort Thompson and was united in marriage to Belva With Horn.

To this union, two children were born, Linda and Lloyd “Chico” Ross, Jr. Lloyd married Patti Healy, they divorced and later reconciled spending the last 16 years together. Lloyd held various tribal jobs through the years and held the position of Crow Creek Tribal Probation Officer for 16 years until his health forced him to retire. Lloyd received the Public Service Award at the Lakota Invitational in 1997.

He attended many Crow Creek Chieftain basketball games which he enjoyed as he had excelled in basketball while attending Flandreau. Lloyd also like to attend rodeos, Pow-Wows, and going to the Lode Star Casino. Lloyd passed away on April 30, 2019 at Sanford Medical Center in Chamberlain at the age of 74 years.

Gratefully sharing his life are Patti Ross and her children Treon and Tyra Fleury and Adrian Medicine Crow; his first wife’s children Fred and Linus Comes Flying, Nathan With Horn, and Delphine With Horn; a brother Ken Ross; five grandchildren Eric and Samantha Dolezal, Ricki Rencountre, DeLonn and DeShawn Ross; and ten great grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents Silas and Frances Ross; his children Linda and Chico; a special daughter Teresa Comes Flying Miller; brothers LeRoy, Silas Jr., Leslie “Corky”, and Spencer Ross; and sisters Gloria White Mouse, Delores Comes Flying, and Illa Long Crow.
