OBITUARY Lois E. Duckworth February 12, 1941 – November 13, 2018 Lois E. Duckworth, age 77, of Fairhaven, passed away on November 13, 2018 following a period of declining health. Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Frederick E. and Barbara (Metcalf) Duckworth, she had resided in New Bedford before moving to Fairhaven over 40 years ago. Miss Duckworth was a graduate of New Bedford High School and of North Adams State College, receiving her Teachers Certificate in 1962.

She had a rewarding career as a fourth grade school teacher at the Rogers School in Fairhaven, retiring in 1996. Lois was active in her church community. She was a member of the former North Congregational Church and the Pilgrim United Church of Christ of New Bedford, and attended the First Congregational Church of Fairhaven.

She played the handbells with the Pilgrim Handbell Ringers, played and taught piano, was interested in church history and family genealogy, and raised finches. She loved animals, especially her cats. Lois loved her family and friends and was a caretaker to many.

She is survived by her brother, Lynn H. Duckworth of Fairhaven; her sister, Nancy E. Lancor of New Bedford; her niece, Allison E. Gavaletz of Woodbridge, CT; her nephew, Aaron A. Lancor of New Bedford; and great nieces and great nephews. Her Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 4pm. Burial will be private.
