Loretta Agnes (Gergen) Davis, 82 of Nebraska City, Nebraska passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018 at the Monarch, Lincoln, Nebraska . She was born on February 19, 1936 to William and Marie (Grote) Gergen on the family farm, rural Shickley, Nebraska. Loretta was the youngest of 10 children.
Her father passed away when she was 7 years old and her mother raised her and her siblings on the family farm. She graduated from Geneva High School in 1952 at the age of 16. She started College late in life and graduated from Peru State College in 1974 with B.S. in Education, she also graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1988 with a Masters in Education.
On May 23, 1959 she married Roger Davis at St.Mary’s Catholic Church rural Shickley, Nebraska. To this union three children were born; Carol Ann, John Charles and Joseph William. Loretta and Roger lived their 43 years of marriage in Nebraska City.
Roger passed away on November 7, 2002. Loretta loved to play Bridge, Pinochle, Crocheting, playing the piano, organ, singing and gardening. In her younger years she enjoyed playing golf on a league in Nebraska City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Marie, husband Roger, grandson, Bret Dahmke, siblings, infant brother, Paul, Irvin, Dorothy Steube, Father Charles, Jerome, Theresa Reinsch, Clement. She is survived by her children, Carol (Mitch) Dahmke of Louisville, KY, John Davis of Nebraska City, NE, Joe (Nancy) Davis of Pawnee City, NE, grandchildren, Ashley (Robert) Erwin of Louisville, KY, Chris (Jennifer) Dahmke of Louisville, KY, Jessica Dahmke ( wife of the late Bret Dahmke) of East Bernstadt, KY, Hannah Davis of Lincoln, NE, Andrew Davis of Lincoln, NE, great grandchildren, Jacob and Tyler Erwin of Louisville, KY, Noah Dahmke of East Bernstadt, KY, Sophia Dahmke of Louisville, KY, sisters, Sr. Marionita Gergen of Milwaukee, WI, Florence Dondlinger of Fairmont, NE, several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Geneva, Nebraska.
Officiating Father Harlan Waskowiak’s and Father Michael Gergen. Visitation on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 1:00-8:00 p.m. at Marshall Funeral Home in Nebraska City, Nebraska. Also visitation one hour before service at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Interment at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery (Turkey Creek) rural Shickley, Nebraska.
