Loretta Ruth Guthrie of Perry, Ohio passed away on November 10, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Loretta was born in Charleroi, Pennsylvania on March 20, 1938 to Augusta and Joseph Elias. She graduated from Charleroi High School in 1956.
She had impeccable work ethic and worked various careers including at Geneva Inn, and helped her family operate Dake Plumbing and Heating. Most of her career was at Madison Country Club where she served with a cheerful heart and a joyful spirit and was loved by club members and co-workers, alike. She spent her later years serving at nursing homes, participating in prayer groups, and was a devoted member of Immaculate Conception Church in Madison, Ohio.
She treasured being with her family and glowed with delight when everyone gathered together. She was most characterized by her unwavering Catholic faith and her devotion to God. She lived a life sharing the Truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through prayer, service, surrender, forgiveness, grace, and great love.
She shared her faith with zeal and loved nothing more than to know others embraced the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes in Him. Loretta was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who always made time for others. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Maria Elias Buchanan and Illene Elias, and by her brothers, Joseph Elias and Ernie Elias.
Loretta was blessed with a large and loving family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Russell Guthrie; her children Debra and Terry Crawford, Christopher and Lisa Dake, Edward and Deanna Dake, and Samantha and Jim Herrholtz, Lisa Luke Guthrie, David and Sue Guthrie; her grandchildren: Kenneth Hughes, Jennifer and Christophe Buffard, Jessica and Douglas Irvine, Johanna and Tim Inwood, Chantal Herrholtz, Madilyn Herrholtz, Haley Dake, Ryan Dake, Joey Dake, Jordan Guthrie, Kayla Guthrie, Shane Posey, Alexis Bruce and Cole Posey; and her great-grandchildren: Eliana, Esther, Scarlett, Archard, Edmond, Cora, Lillian, Michael, Dimitri, Elleni, and Theodore. Calling hours are Friday, November 15 at Potti Funeral Home in Madison, Ohio from 2pm to 4pm and 6 pm to 8 pm.
Loretta’s life and legacy will be celebrated with a service at 11 am on Saturday, November 16 at Immaculate Conception Church in Madison, Ohio, followed by a graveside burial at North Madison Cemetery. A reception will follow at Parish Center at Immaculate Conception Church. Arrangements are entrusted to the Potti Funeral Home of Madison.
