Obituary for Mrs. Loris Mae Meece age 93, of Keystone Heights Mrs. Loris Mae Meece age 93, of Keystone Heights passed away Friday, May 11, 2018 at Haven Hospice in Gainesville. She was born February 27, 1925 in Inwood Long Island, New York to the late John B. and Anna (Arneth) Anderson. In 1970, Mrs. Meece made Keystone Heights her home moving from Memphis, Tennessee.
She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Florida and started her career as a case worker retiring from HRS in Starke. Mrs. Meece is a parishioner of St. Pius the Fifth Roman Catholic Church in Starke; she enjoyed crossword puzzles, sewing, artwork, reading and especially watching the game show Jeopardy; she was also known as the “World Traveler”. Her husband, James Meece of 49 years and her son in-law, Melvin Charles Palm had both preceded her in death.
Survivors are her five children Martha Weatherall and Loris Palm both of Starke, Carla M. Williams (Ronald) of Glen St. Mary, Arneth Dix of Cheyenne, WY and Jeff Meece (Elaine) of Bartlett, TN. Also left behind are her sister Marley Anderson of CT, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Service times to be announced.
