Obituary for Lorita Lauricella Hughes Lorita Lauricella Hughes, affectionately known as “Aunt Mae”, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2018 at the age of 95 years. Former wife of the late John D. Hughes. Daughter of the late Mamie Reed Bennerfield, Nathaniel J. Bennerfield and John Lauricella.

Sister of the late Vernelda Bergeron and Thelda Fink. Sister-in-law of the late Raymond Buras and James Fink. Beloved aunt of the late Raenelda B. LaCaze (the late Richard V. LaCaze Sr.), and survived by her niece, Faye Lynne Naquin.

She is also survived by her dedicated great-nieces and nephew, Richard V. LaCaze Jr. (JoAnn), Tammy Rodriguez (Malcolm), Karen Dussel (Ahsley), Jan Barbier (Scott), and the late Joseph LaCaze II (Gabrielle). Also survived by Raymond Naquin (Rebecca) and great-aunt of the late Huey P. Naquin and Marie Laina Sanchez Carlisle. She was loved by many great-great-nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

“Aunt Mae” was a well-known Gretna resident. Her family appreciates the love and friendships at Common Grounds in Gretna and most recently, at Our Lady of Wisdom Health Care Center. Thanks to all who cared for her.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOMES, 2100 Westbank Expy. , Harvey, LA on Monday, December 31, 2018 at 1:30pm. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park.
