Louie Dean Mann Oakes, 84, of Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully Thursday evening, May 9, 2019 at Phenix City Healthcare in Phenix City, AL A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm EST on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL with Rev. Johnny Ellison and Rev. Jonathan Pike officiating.

Interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL.

Mrs. Oakes was born November 14, 1934 in Union Springs, AL, daughter of the late Fulton Mann and Nora Thorne Mann. She retired after many years of service at Fieldcrest Mills, as a Supervisor. Mrs. Oakes volunteered at Sherwood several years and won Volunteer of the Year one time.

She taught the Adult Sunday School at both Silver Run Baptist Church and Golden Acres Baptist Church. Mrs. Oakes was a huge supporter of her husband in his ministry and the Singing Oakes. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev.

Roosevelt Oakes; a daughter, Karen Lynn Oakes; two sisters, Virginia Shirley and Louise Broadway. She is survived by one daughter, Pam Oakes Smith and husband Tony; one son, Terry Oakes and wife Kathy Jo, one precious granddaughter, Eliza Kaye Richardson; a brother, John Mann and wife Anna; a sister, Marion Johnson; several nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and many caring friends.
