CROSS PLAINS-Louis A. Schulenberg, age 84, of Cross Plains, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018 at his home. He was born on June 11, 1934, on the family farm in Cross Plains, the son of Otto and Agnes (Virnig) Schulenberg. Louis proudly served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1956.

When he returned home from the service, he worked on many local farms before beginning a long career with J.H. Findorff & Son Inc. Leffler on Nov. 6, 1960, they were blessed with 3 children, Larry, Alan and Michelle.

Louis had a great love for the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and working in his garden. Many friends and family enjoyed the produce from his garden. Throughout Louis’ life, he had many beagles, who were his pride and joy.

But somehow his cat, Gray also found a soft spot in his heart. Louis is survived by his son, Alan (Julie) Schulenberg and daughter, Michelle Schulenberg. He was preceded in death by his mother, Agnes Schulenberg; father, Otto Schulenberg; step mother, Louise Schulenberg; infant son, Larry; wife, Beverly Schulenberg and special family friend, A.J. “Mud Man” Scoles.

A Graveside Service will be held at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CEMETERY, 2947 Thinnes St., Cross Plains, at 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2018, with Father Thomas Kelley presiding. Military Honors will also be conducted in honor of Louis’ service.
