Obituary for Louis Wheeler Sr. Obituary Louis Wheeler, Sr. Born September 25, 1932 Louis was one of seven children born from the Union of Ethridge and Rubena Draft Wheeler. Louis was preceded in death by siblings, Oswana, Laura Josephine, Albert, William, James, and his current living sibling Sarah. Grew up in Homestead, PA Educated in The Homestead School System and Graduated from Homestead High School Was a member of Park Place AME Church his entire life.

After graduation from High School, Louis worked at Wilkins Jewelry Store in Homestead, PA. Louis then served 4 years in The United States Army and fought to protect our Country in The Korean War. Upon returning from serving in the US Army, Louis worked for The Veterans Affairs for over 25 years as a supervisor in the VA Warehouse at the Aspinwall location.

Louis married Lillie Worthy Wheeler from West Mifflin, PA on August 16, 1959. From this Union, one son was born, The Reverend Louis Thad Wheeler Jr. “Rev Thad” has been married to Tracy Douglas-Wheeler for 30 years. From this union, two children were born.

Grandson, Richard “Alec” Wheeler, 24, and Granddaughter, Caitlin Morgan Wheeler, 21. Louis along with Lillie remained active members of Park Place AME Church and Regionally active in the AME Church. After Lillie’s death in 2013, Louis remained active at Park Place and continued to serve on the Trustee Board, Church Treasurer, sang in the Senior Choir, was a member of the Men’s Bible Study.

Louis was recently married to Marcia Mozley on February 25, 2018 in quiet, intimate ceremony officiated by Louis’ son, Thad. Louis and Marcia made the commitment to one another to enjoy life to the fullest by staying active attending movies, plays, concerts, shopping, and cruising the Caribbean islands. Louis was a devoted fan of The Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates and The University of Pittsburg Men’s Basketball Team.

Louis’s special hobby was Artwork. He was a gifted Artist who drew many pieces of Artwork for family and close friends. Louis enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed beaches, warm weather and sand.

Always presenting a friendly smile, Louis was well known in his local community and beyond, Living Life with a Motto of “Helping Others in Need”. Louis, Uncle Louie, Cousin Louie, Louie, Papap, Mr. W and Dad, has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Godchildren and friends, neighbors whom he loved dearly. He will be missed dearly.
