Obituary for Louise Ann Van De Mark (Petrus) Print Former Rush Springs Resident: Louise Ann Van De Mark, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019 in California at the age of 94. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 26, 2019, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel, with Rev. David Hale officiating.

Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs. Visitation will be Friday, January 25, 2019 at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Louise was born Sunday, June 1, 1924 in Hazen, AR, to Andrew Joseph and Sophia (Wargo) Petrus.

She attended school in Hazen where she lived as a child. Louise married the love of her life, Joe Houston Van De Mark in Fort Smith, AR on December 30, 1950 and to this union, 2 daughters were born, Betty and Gay. Louise and Joe were married for 50 wonderful years before his passing on April 27, 2001.

Louise lived in various places throughout her life owning restaurants such as Lou’s Cafe in Oklahoma City. She also worked as a riveter during the war and at a rocket test site on the Edwards Air Force Base as well. She loved taking care of her flower garden and her vegetable garden.

Louise enjoyed sewing and quilting. She was a member of the Vimy Ridge Baptist Church. Survivors include, 2 daughters, Betty Umsted of Jurapa Valley, CA, Gay Lynn Van De Mark of Fresno, CA, 2 grandchildren, Monte Umsted of Poway, CA, Clayton Umsted of Hesperia, CA, 6 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchildren.

She was also survived by 3 sisters, Grace Rate of West Bend, WI, Julia Jane Woodard of Garland, TX, Rose Parker of Garland, TX. Along with her husband of 50 years, Louise was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, Lewis Petrus, Daniel Petrus, Bernard Petrus, Andrew Petrus, John Petrus, 6 sisters, Earnestine Stevens, Mary Jo Chambers, Betty Sue Roberts, Emma Lee Matoske, Jeanette King, and Francces Dammen.
