Louise M. (Bowen) Shellehamer Very Active Woman – Louise M. (Bowen) Shellehamer, 89, of Camp Hill, passed away on May 30, 2018, at Claremont Nursing Home in Carlisle. She was born on Wednesday, June 27, 1928 in Chicago, IL to the late William Alvin Bowen and Mattie Lou (Hill) Bowen as the oldest of four siblings. In addition to her parents, Louise is preceded in death by her great-grandson, Tomlin Showalter; and her three siblings: William Bowen, Delores Stahl, and Barbara Carney.

Louise is survived by her husband, Paul E. Shellehamer, with whom she celebrated over 64 years of marriage; her three daughters: Patti L. S. Smith and her husband, Gary, of Holtwood, Donna M. Asper and her husband, Allan, of Lewisberry, Joan E. Horst and her husband, Laverne, of Dillsburg; her 11 grandchildren: Matthew Asper and his wife, Christina, and their children: Lillian, Cylis, and Ivy, of Camp Hill, Joshua Asper and his wife, Ashley, and their children: Kaitlyn, Alyvia, and Kaylee, of Carlisle, Rachel Smith and her significant other, Tyler Shepperd, of Landisville, Melissa Asper Burke and her children: Parker, Asher, and Adley, of Lewisberry, Timothy Horst and his wife, Rebecca, and their children: Lydia and Lincoln, of Camp Hill, Stephen Smith and his wife, Ann, and their children: Aaron, Chase, Paige, and Melody, of Millersville, Rebecca Rubincam and her husband, Bruce, of Lancaster, Tiffany Showalter and her husband, Justin, and their children: Reuben and Ansel, of Harrisonburg, VA, Phillip Horst and his wife, Kristen, of Suffolk, VA, Brandon Smith and his wife, Holly, of Hallam, Kiernan Smith of Holtwood; and several nieces and nephews. She graduated from Austin High School in Chicago as a part of the class of 1947. Afterwards, she worked at Echo Products until her marriage in 1953.

Louise was a member of Shiremanstown United Methodist Church for over 60 years where she volunteered in the church office for more than 35 years. She also served as class secretary for 25 years. Louise loved being active and was a volunteer school librarian for her years at Lower Allen Elementary.

She also was an avid mall walker at the Capital City Mall. All are welcome to join Louise’s family at her viewing on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:20 p.m. and at her funeral service at 1:30 p.m. at Shiremanstown United Methodist Church, 125 East Main Street, Shiremanstown, PA 17011; with Reverend Logan Garth Swanger officiating. Burial will follow in Slate Hill Cemetery in Camp Hill.

Honored to be pallbearers are: Joshua Asper, Matthew Asper, Phillip Horst, Timothy Horst, Brandon Smith, Kiernan Smith, and Stephen Smith. Louise’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at her church following the burial.
