Cannelton, Indiana – Lovell O. Carter, 79, passed away on June 5, 2018, with his family alongside him. He was born in Cannelton on August 19, 1938, son of the late Virgil and Irma (Hawhee) Carter. Also preceding him in death was a brother Larry “L.C.” Carter.

Lovell was a 1956 graduate of Cannelton High School. He married Margie Shown on March 15, 1957. Lovell enjoyed camping and traveling with his family and motorcycles.

He was gifted with the ability to fix things for family, friends and neighbors and had a knack for repair on small engines and farm implements. In 2000, Lovell retired as a supervisor from the former National Southwire Aluminum where he worked for over thirty years. After he retired, he opened Carter’s Motorcycle Shop and later he and his wife owned and operated The Children’s Exchange both formerly on Washington Street in Cannelton.

Lovell had a pleasant personality and liked to reminisce with friends. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margie; daughters, Tammy Carter (Brian Huebschman), Rocky Point, Karen Sue McCormick, Tell City and Lois Ann Eames (John), Sevierville, Tennessee; grandchildren Karie Briem (Donnie), Heather Irish (Tim), Justin Brown (Tasha), Nathan Tuggle (Ashley), Katie McCormick, Echo Eames and Ivy Eames and great grandchildren, Chelsey Skeen, Maddi Briem, Damion Jackson, Owen Tuggle, Laney Tuggle and Ember Eames. Lovell requested no funeral services to be held for him.

The family asks that contributions made in his memory go to Perry County Animal Shelter.
