Lowell E. “Goat” Goltry, 91, of Royal Center passed away peacefully at 3:15 a.m., Friday, May 25, 2018 at Millers Merry Manor in Logansport. Born on March 24, 1927 in Logansport, he was the son of the late Francis and Hazel (Blessing) Goltry. Lowell was a 1945 Royal Center High School graduate and also a graduate of Coyne Electrical College in Chicago.

He was a WWII US Navy veteran serving aboard the USS Rankin and the AKA 103. On August 12, 1950 he married Marjorie A. Harvey. She preceded him in death on September 18, 2015.

He was a retired rural letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. Lowell also owned and operated Goltry Contractors. Goat was a member of Royal Center United Methodist Church and attended Shiloh Christian Church, he was also a member of the Royal Center Masonic Lodge, Past President of the Royal Center Volunteer Fire Department and the Royal Center Town Board.

He was also a longtime ISHAA basketball official. Survivors include son, Gregory Goltry (Janet) of Royal Center, daughter in law, Rebecca Partin of Royal Center, sister’s in law, Mary Henry of Royal Center, Joy Goltry of Logansport and Mary Goltry of Terre Haute, grandchildren, Linnea Lebo (Cody), Sarah Franklin (Lee), Lisa Daily (Neil) and Austin Goltry (Abigail), and great grandchildren, Cole Franklin, Jenna Franklin, Brynlee Franklin, Hallie Lebo, Jalynn Lebo, Baden Goltry and Bellis Goltry. He was also preceded in death by one son, David Goltry and brothers, Francis Goltry, Donald Goltry and James Goltry.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel with Pastor Tim McKaig officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. Burial with Military Rites will be performed at the Royal Center Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Royal Center Volunteer Fire Department.
