Lt. Col. Thomas A. “Grouch” Clougher, U.S. Air Force, retired, died December 15 at 92 years of age.

He was born on September 3, 1926 in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York. His parents were John T. Clougher and Irene B. Clougher (nee “O’Hara) who with one sister, Irene Cahn, have predeceased him. Lt.

Col. Clougher was a resident of Kokomo since 2004. He entered the military service on December 15, 1945 during WWII and served in France, Germany, and Austria.

Upon his discharge on January 9, 1947, he enlisted in the Air Force Reserves at Floyd Bennett Field, Brooklyn, N.Y. and served as an enlisted man where he rose to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. On September 23, 1968 he received a direct commission as a Captain in the Air Force Reserves as a Staff Supply Officer and he retired on September 3, 1986 as a Lt. Col.

while serving as a Deputy Commander of Logistics in the 434thTactical Fighter Wing at Grissom AFB, Indiana. Lt. Col.

Clougher was a graduate of the Air Force Air Command and Staff College, the Air University Squadron Office School and a recipient of the WWII Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, the Air Force Meritorious Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and an Air Force Commendation Medal. He participated in many tours of active duty during his military career spanning over 36 years. In civilian life he was employed as an Air Reserve Technician by the Federal Government for over 38 years and retired on January 3, 1986.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Surviving family members include: His wife of 71 years, Marjorie F. Clougher (nee Ryder), daughters and sons-in-law, Marjorie and Frank Hudson of Manchester, GA. , Kathleen and Stanley Keller of Kokomo, IN; Barbara and Roger Carter of Warsaw, IN.

and two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Tami Clougher, Danville, CA and Timothy and Gabbi Clougher, Bloomington, IN. His grandchildren, Bonnie and Mark Hudson, Benjamin and Jonathan Keller and Kristen (Keller) Vess, Deborah, Zachary, and Caleb (Lindsey) Carter, Erica (Clougher) Ramirez and Joshua Clougher. Great Grandchildren, Andrew and Alexander Hudson, Gideon and Ezra Keller, Elizabeth, Anastasia, and Matthew Vess, Evan and Marnie Ramirez.

The family would like to thank the St. Vincent Hospice team and the nurses and aides at Kokomo Place for their loving care. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2018 at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Pastor Keith Treadway officiating. Burial will follow at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana with full military honors.
