LUELLA EVA LEBLANC (Saulnier), passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family in West Newbury, MA at the age of 90. Born on August 31, 1928 to the late Albert & Madeleine Saulnier of Pinkney’s Point, Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Luella (Lue) and was the 9th child of 12 and the last surviving child. Lue moved to the United States in 1945 where she worked as a waitress at Schrafts in Boston, meeting and making many friends and playing guitar with friends, meeting Chester (Chet) T. LeBlanc of Malden MA in these venues and marrying Chet in 1949 who became her lifelong loving husband of 69 years.

Along with being a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother she played guitar and sang at various venues such as Saugus Lions Club Variety Shows with her Family, St. Basil’s Cursilo Community, Prison Ministry at MCI Framingham and Concord, Holy Family Parish in Amesbury MA, St Anne’s in West Newbury and the West Newbury and Amesbury Council on Aging. Lue was gifted and generous with her love and laughter — meeting and making friends was part of her nature. Her family and her music were most important in her life.

Lue is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 69 years, Chester T. LeBlanc; also her 7 children: Roger of Haverhill, MA, David of West Newbury, MA, Michael of Saugus MA, Daniel of Salem, MA, Janice of Watertown, MA, Jeannine of Wells, Maine and Jennifer of West Newbury, MA; 7 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren, all of who surrounded her with love through all her days. The family extends its thanks to the entire staff of Anna Jacques Hospital and Hospice of the Merrimac Valley. They provided Lue with compassion and dignity during her and her family’s time of need.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday September 30, 2018 from the hours of 2:00 to 6:00 PM at Twomey, LeBlanc and Conte Funeral Home, 193 High St. Newburyport MA 01950. Parking available behind the Funeral Home. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30AM on Monday October 1, 2018 at the Immaculate Conception Church followed by a burial service at St. Mary’s Cemetery, both in Newburyport.

Friends and family are invited to meet at a gathering at The Grange/Byfield Community Arts Center, 7 Central Street, Byfield, MA 01922. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Luella’s name to Anna Jacques Hospital, 21 Highland Ave, Newburyport MA 01950 or St. Basil’s Salvatorian Center, 30 East Street, Methuen MA 01844.
