Mabel Blanche “May” West, 87, of Kinston passed away, Saturday, January 5, 2019 at UNC Lenoir Healthcare. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Emma Brown. Raised in Barrington, NJ, she later returned to Kinston to enjoy her retirement with the love of her life, Woody West.

Mrs. West was a member of the Eastern Star in Merchantville, NJ. She enjoyed spending time with friends having breakfast weekly at Lovick’s Café. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Julian “Woody” West.

She is survived by many special nieces, nephews and other loving family members and special friends. Funeral service will be held at Howard-Carter Funeral Home, Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 6:30 pm with Pastor Dale Delaney III officiating. Graveside service will be held at Chelton Hills, Abbey Cemetery in Philadelphia PA, Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials may be made to The Fifth District Cancer Research Foundation, PO Box 481, Edison New Jersey, 08817.
