Manuela Moron, 100, of Big Spring, died Monday, September 10, 2018 at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Vigil service will be at 7:00 PM Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 AM Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with burial at Trinity Memorial Park.

Manuela was born October 10, 1917 in Bakersfield, California to Josefita Duran Saldivar and Bernabe Saldivar. She married Simon Moron on December 3, 1936 in Brady, Texas and he preceded… Read More » her in death on September 29, 1987. She had been a resident of Big Spring since 1944.

Manuela was a devout catholic and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and was a Cursillista. She loved her children and grandchildren the same. She enjoyed gardening.

She taught her daughters how to make quilts, how to crochet and make tamales. She was a housewife, but at times she helped her husband out in the field. She spoke about the depression era.

In her early years of marriage, her husband worked clearing pastures and they would live in tents. She had to cook outside in the bitter cold and hot summers. She was a strong, loving mother and grandmother.

She would have been 101 years next month. She is survived by six daughters: Alice Salazar, Terry Cervantez, both of Big Spring; Olivia Hernandez and husband Rudy of Big Spring, Sally Munoz, Stella Moron and Amy Hernandez and husband Louis, all of Big Spring; one son: Ray Moron of Big Spring; one sister: Lupe Ortegon of Eden; 17 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by two brothers: Carmen Saldivar and Salvador Saldivar and three sisters: Cuca Saldivar, Rosa Saldivar and Mary Saldivar; one step-son Manuel Martinez; two granddaughters: Sabrina Munoz and Sandra Martinez and two sons-in-laws: Sammy Munoz and Leo Salazar.

Pallbearers will be Simon Munoz, Eddie Cervantez, Rudy Hernandez, Jr., Jesse Salazar, Blake Guerra and Jonah Rayford. Arrangements are by Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Pay your respects online at www.
