Sally Vonnahme, age 91, of Carroll, died Monday, February 4, 2019, at Accura Health Care in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 8, 2019 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Mt.

Carmel. The Celebrant will be Fr. Mark Stoll.

Music will be by Nancy Lemker and the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Choir. Lector will be Dale Derner.

Gift Bearers will be Jo Grundmeier, Carol Gortmaker, and Karen Derner. Casket Bearers will be Jeff Vonnahme, Kevin Vonnahme, Mary Allred, Chris Grundmeier, Daniel Grundmeier, Jessica Neville, Amber Rosener, Dennis Vonnahme, and Trevor Vonnahme. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4 p.m. on Thursday, where there will be a Rosary prayed at 5 p.m., and a Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. The casket will be moved to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church on Friday morning, where additional visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, and online condolences may be left for Sally’s family at www. sharpfuneral.com.

Marcella, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Meiners) Kraus was born on November 10, 1927 near Willey, Iowa. She grew up near Willey, and attended country school. On April 23, 1946, Sally was united in marriage to Vernon “Andy” Vonnahme at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Roselle.

The couple made their home near Mt. Carmel, and began their family. Sally worked until her retirement at Earl May Nursery and Garden Center in Carroll.

In addition, she helped with school lunches at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School. She was a generous volunteer, serving with the Carroll R.S.V.P.

, Carroll Public Library, and the Carroll Foster Grandparent Program, where she was affectionately known as “Grandma Sally”. Sally was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish.

Sally is survived by her children: Jerry Vonnahme of Washington, Dennis (Cherrie) Vonnahme of Ogden, Jo (Rob) Grundmeier of Carroll, Duane (Joni) Vonnahme of Carroll, Carol (Al) Gortmaker of Sus, WI, and Karen (Dale) Derner of Carroll; 9 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law: Elizabeth “Betty” Walker of Carroll, Lucille Vonnahme of Papillion, NE, and Joan Hannasch of Rosemont, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives. Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon “Andy” Vonnahme, a son-in-law: Kevin T. Schreck; daughter-in-law: Carol (Schwery) Vonnahme; her siblings: Clarence Kraus, and Florence Gehling; and her parents-in-law: Ben and Mary Vonnahme.
