Ronald’s Obituary Ronald Ray Brower, age 74, of Coon Rapids passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, March 9, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the Coon Rapids United Methodist Church with Rev. Joyce Webb officiating.

Organist for the service will be Lula Garnes. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Anthony Hospice and may be left at the funeral home or the church. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids from 5 -7 P.M. on Wednesday.

The casket will be moved to the Coon Rapids United Methodist Church at 9:30 A.M. on Thursday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids and online condolences may be left for the family at www. dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on April 16, 1944 in Des Moines he was the son of Harry and Iola (Brower) Christensen. His family lived in DeSoto until they moved to Coon Rapids when he was five years old.

He graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1962. He was married to Linda McCurdy on February 12, 1965 in Coon Rapids and to this union were born three children Ronda, Angie, and Scott. The couple made their home in Coon Rapids where Ron owned and operated Coon Rapids Cleaners.

He later sold cars for Niles Chevrolet and then went to work for Garst Seed Company which took him to Waverly, IA. In 1990 he was married to Jan Moehlis and the couple lived in Waverly, Johnston, and Lake Panorama, moving back to Coon Rapids in 1999. Ron continued to work for Garst Seed and started Brower Built.

Ron’s talents of custom woodworking were highly sought after by friends and family. He was a member of Coon Rapids United Methodist Church where he served on several committees, the Coon Rapids Masonic Lodge, the Coon Rapids Rotary Club, Coon Rapids Development Group, Coon Rapids Volunteer Fire Department, and he served as chairman of the board of Coon Rapids Municipal Utilities. Ron enjoyed traveling with Jan, going on Ragbrai, hiking, and fishing trips.

Everyone enjoyed Ron’s quick wit and his loving heart. He will be dearly missed. Ron is survived by his wife Jan of Coon Rapids; two daughters Ronda Eddy (Brad) of Waukee and Angie Bonthuis of Gilbert; son Scott Brower (Bridgett) of Des Moines; two step-sons: Aaron Moehlis (Amanda) of Tucson, AZ and Kyle Moehlis (Tiffany) of North Liberty, IA; thirteen grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Ron was preceded in death by parents Harry and Iola Christensen; his sister Bev; his brother Bob; and his granddaughter Molly.
