Obituary for Marcie Barrett DeSieno Saratoga Springs, NY Marcie Barrett DeSieno, daughter of Kenneth R Barrett and Vivian Reynolds Barrett, died peacefully at the Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs, NY on August 29, 2018. Born on September 21, 1937 in Warren, PA, she was 80 years old. She is survived by her husband, Robert P. DeSieno, by her two sons Robert B. DeSieno, and Timothy B. DeSieno and by three grandsons, Jacob DeSieno, Joshua DeSieno, and Zachary DeSieno.

Her sister, Kay Craig, died ten years ago. Marcie loved life and delighted in its creative gestures on many fronts. She was an enthusiastic gardener who assisted the work of sun and soil to produce an abundance of colorful blossoms that graced our home every spring and summer.

She explored art and art history to deepen her grasp of the creative moment expressed on paper and canvas. She sketched, with pencil and paper, impressive images copied from photographic portraits. And, she delighted in sculpture especially that found in the remains of ancient Rome and Greece which she visited on several occasions.

She was devoted to exercise, especially to bicycling; she regularly bicycled the round trip to and from the Saratoga Battlefield, sustaining her commitment to exercise while surveying the beauty of the land she traversed. She read novels, American history, and biographies focused on the early days of our nation and gained studied insights into the political thinking that informed the constitutional design of America. She was deeply devoted to the welfare and needs of our family.

In all circumstances, ordinary and extraordinary, she provided encouraging care that helped us along our way. She completed a course of studies at SUNY Albany that earned her an MS degree in Liberal Studies and served as Assistant Registrar at Skidmore College for several years. For more than a decade, she volunteered her services at SPAC and at the Emergency Department of Saratoga Hospital.
