Betty Hicks Richfield, Utah Our loving mother, Margaret Bettylee Hicks, 89, passed away January 19, 2019 in Richfield. She was born December 16, 1929 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada to Thomas and Elizabeth Osborn Greenwood. Betty came to the United States as a young adult and became a US citizen.

She married Joseph Kirschner and they had three children. They later divorced. She married the love of her life, Jack Homer Hicks December 10, 1971 in Mexicali, Mexico.

He preceded her in death January 18, 2012. Betty was an interior decorator in Escondido, California before moving to Richfield in 1973. She had many good friends with whom she loved to travel.

Betty was active in the Valley Community Presbyterian Church. For many years she was a member of Beta Sigma Phi —Order of the Rose & Silver Circle. She also received “Woman of the Year” award from the sorority.

Betty’s hobbies include: knitting, crocheting, reading, socializing and especially being with family. Her favorite sport was watching football. She started the wonderful family tradition of Christmas Cookie Night the day before Christmas Eve.

The family all treasure this fun tradition. A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Betty will be deeply missed by all. Survived by her children: Nancy Gail (Dave) Shaw, Lake Havasu City, AZ; Kenneth Lee (Shelly) Kirschner, Monroe; Jack’s children: Jane Rue, Glendale; and Sara Burger, Monroe; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; brothers: Brian (Carolyn) Greenwood, Arden, NC; Rick (Debbie) Greenwood Frisco, TX.

Also preceded in death by her parents; son, Steven Dee Kirschner; son-in-law, Larry Burger; granddaughter Lilly Rue-Mendoza. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 25, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel, where friends may call from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
