Gertrude Durham Interment: Blanco Cemetery Margaret Nell (Jackson) Miles Sunrise: September 7, 1941 Sunset: January 8, 2019 Margaret Nell Jackson was born on September 7, 1941 in San Marcos, Texas to Samuel Jackson Sr., and Minnie Alean Giles Jackson. She was raised in the Christian home with her grandparents, Anthony and Ada Giles.

They instilled the importance of living as a believer, and attending church. She was baptized at an early age at Wesley Chapel A.M.E. Church. Further, Margaret was educated at San Marcos’ “Colored School” which is now known as Dunbar.

She was employed at South West Texas State University, which is now Texas State University for many years. In 1974, she met and fell in love with Horace Miles. She lived in the cities of San Antonio, and Dallas Texas before moving back to San Marcos, Texas in 1997.

She had many relatives and friends, who adored her humor and charming personality. She loved entertaining and making people laugh; a great hostess indeed. Additionally, Margaret was the kind of person who could bring a smile to your face if you were sad because she was such a fun-loving person.

She was also a outstanding cook, who taught her daughter these wonderful skills. She adored her grandchildren and one of her hobbies she loved to do was watch wrestling on television with them (They loved it as much as she did). She always made sure they were taken care of and never in need.

She loved attending church and was there every sunday until her illness would not allow her to attend. Preceding her in death were her parents; Samuel and Minnie Jackson, grandparents, Anthony and Ada giles, a daughter Candi Jackson, four brothers; Anthony Jackson, Sam Jackson, Alton Coby, Joseph Allen, two sisters; Patricia Coby, and Ada Jean Henson, a loving aunt; Marguerite C. Hill, and a loving sister-in-law; Effie Jackson. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Jackson of San Marcos, Texas; two brothers; James Coby, Otis Coby, four sisters; Bonni Carroll, Agatha Carroll, Joan Milstead, Brenda Coby all of Marbury, Maryland.

Grandchildren, Sergio and Rakeem Jackson of San Marcos, Texas, a devoted nephew: Lionel Cheatham (Cornelia) and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends.
