Margaret “Peg” Jeanne Shipley, 94, of Westminster passed away Friday, December 28, 2018 at Carroll Hospice Dove House. Born June 6, 1924 in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Alexander Albert and Ectal Berg Arris. She was the wife of the late Emory Bell Shipley, Jr. who preceded her in death in 2005.

Peg was a 1945 graduate of University of Maryland School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse at Frederick Memorial Hospital and the first Coordinator of the LPN program at… Read More » the hospital in 1966. She enjoyed playing Bridge and 500, doing needlework and most of all being with her grandsons and great-grandchildren.

Peg is survived by her daughter Pamela S. Putman and her husband Richard of Westminster; 2 grandchildren, David Gregory Putman and Richard Grant Putman and his wife Lindsay; and great-grandchildren David Avery Putman and Mia Jean Putman, all of Salisbury. In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by her brothers Alexander A. Arris, Jr., Keith Robert Arris and Daniel J. Arris. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Krug Chapel, Carroll Lutheran Village, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster.

A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel, with Chaplain Jimmie Schwartz officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frederick.

Memorial donations may be made in Peg’s name to the Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave. , Westminster, MD 21157. Arrangements provided by Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, Westminster.
