Obituary for Margaret “Ruth” Hacker Margaret “Ruth” Hacker August 29, 1940 – December 29, 2018 On Saturday, December 29, 2018 Margaret Ruth Hacker, loving mother and grandmother, passed away at her home at the age of 78. Margaret Ruth Emmerick was born on August 29, 1940 to John Emmerick and Velma Mae Arter in Columbus, OH. She grew up rather quickly, being one of the eldest siblings of six.

Ruth as she became known, met James Lee Hacker and together they had six children. After moving to West Virginia, she devoted her life to raising her children and grandchildren. Ruth was a master in the kitchen and over the years, became well-known for her gardening skills and passion for cleaning.

She was a Baptist by faith. She is survived by four sons: Terry (Connie) Hacker of Cedarville, James Lee Hacker II, Robert Hacker and Kevin Hacker of Cedarville and one daughter: Cheryl (Charles) Dobbins. Two sisters also survive: Annie Brown of Barberton, OH and Carol Powell of Florida.

She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by: James (2009), son Larry Gene Hacker (1993), great-granddaughter Lara Reese Canfield (2011), and sisters: Maxine Kuhl, Virginia Descent, and Evelyn Bender. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV 26621.

Funeral Service will follow in the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home Chapel at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Interment will follow in the Copen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Copen Cemetery Fund, c/o Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home P.O. Box 292, Flatwoods, WV 26621.

There will a dinner held at the Cedar Creek State Park following interment. Fond memories and condolences can be shared with the family at stockert-paletti.com. The Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home of Flatwoods will be assisting the Hacker Family in honoring the Life of Margaret Ruth Hacker.
